Sunil Varu has been appointed the new business development manager for the west Fife town after its BID company, Delivering Dunfermline, ceased.

Mr Varu started his new job this week.

He was Kirkcaldy’s first BID manager after setting up the steering group and winning the successful ballot to get it off the ground.

During his time, he launched Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival, and brought Scotland’s first light night event to the Lang Toun.

Since leaving a decade ago - he was succeeded at Kirkcaldy4All by Bill Harvey - Sunil has worked in town centre roles in Largs, North Queensferry and Paisley and, more recently, Edinburgh’s west end.

Confirming his appointment, Councillor Helen Law, who convenes Dunfermline’s area committee, said: "I'm really sad that we lost the BID company as it was to be based in the hub but we have to move forward and I'm really looking forward to working with Sunil.”
