Factory closure leaves job losses and dream homes half built

Sips Eco Panels, a supplier of structural insulated panels for use in house building, who had its production facilities in Viewfield, went into administration last week, with the loss of 25 jobs at the site.

But while the company’s workshop and offices remain locked following Thursday’s redundancies, a number of customers currently building their own homes have been left wondering if their orders will ever be delivered.

Graham Porter from Stratford-upon-Avon, told the Gazette he was only informed of the situation after calling to check on his order for £22,000 worth of panels. He has since heard or received nothing.

“This has left me in a very difficult position, I’ve paid up front for panels and have nothing to show for it,” he said.

“I’ve always wanted to build my own home, now I have it half built, and it doesn’t look like I’m going to get anything for my money, I’ll file a claim but it looks like I’ve lost all of that money I‘ve paid out.”

Fellow customer David Towle from Oxford confirmed that he had paid £7000, but had received nothing.

“Delivery was due in September, we’re still waiting and have had no contact,“ he said.

The Gazette contacted Sips Eco Panels at both their Glenrothes and Sudbury offices before going to press but received no response.

A spokesman for insolvency firm CVR Global has confirmed it has been appointed to handle the administration.
