Fife artisan producer scoops prestigious accolade at national food awards

A Fife-based artisan producer has won an accolade for its handcrafted products at a prestigious awards event.

The Farmer’s Son, based at Clentrie Farm in Auchtertool, scooped the top prize for its handcrafted black pudding in the Haggis, Black & White Pudding category at the Scottish Retail Food and Drink Awards.

The awards which celebrate the vast array of quality food and drink products locally produced in Scotland took place online on April 29 at a virtual awards ceremony.

After almost three weeks of intensive judging involving hundreds of products and more than 60 expert judges from across the food and drink sector, the results included a selection of outstanding Scottish products targeting retail listings in Scotland.

The Farmer’s Son was presented their award by The Times Scotland Alba Editor, Gabriella Bennett, with judges noting it was “Such a strong showing for The Farmer’s Son on the shortlist. A truly outstanding black pudding in gorgeous packaging.”

The winning Black Pudding by The Farmer’s Son is handmade in Fife to a 100-year-old family recipe. Using all-natural, locally sourced ingredients including homegrown pork from the family farm, PGI Scotch beef and locally sourced oats and flour, to give the pudding its award-winning flavour. The award-winning pudding is also free from dairy, preservatives and additives.

We are delighted to have our Black Pudding given the stamp of approval with such a prestigious award. It is a validation of our commitment to producing delicious food with real provenance. The Farmer’s Son Black Pudding was just one of three products shortlisted for this award by the Fife producer, with their white pudding receiving a Highly Commended accolade at the awards.
