Fife convenience retailer helping where it can during coronavirus crisis
These are just two measures introduced by a Fife-based convenience store chain to help tackle the effects of the Covid-19 crisis.
Eros Retail, who have two stores in Kirkcaldy and one each in Markinch, Leven, Cardenden and Coaltown of Balgonie, also employed 20 people who had lost their jobs as a result of the outbreak; introduced free coffee for all NHS and emergency services staff until further notice; and delivered hundreds of pounds worth of free groceries to a foodbank and the Cottage Family Centre in Kirkcaldy.

Hide AdHarris Aslam, managing director of the company which runs Loco in St Clair Street, said: “Shops and businesses across the country have gone the extra mile to ensure no-one in their area has been neglected.
“Our own amazing team have been working round the clock to deliver nearly 2000 packages of groceries and other household essentials which had been ordered online in the past week.
“We are determined not to let anyone down, even though the demand for deliveries is growing all the time.”
Eros Retail has had support from other local businesses and suppliers.

Hide AdIn response to increased demand for flour and yeast, the company spoke to bakery partners Fisher & Donaldson, who worked collectively to bag flour into 1kg bags and get them to customers.
It has also enhanced its partnership with other local suppliers including Graham’s the Family Dairy and Raith Fruit & Flowers.
Staff at the convenience stores have been rewarded by having a pay increase brought forward by two weeks and further bonuses are planned.
