The Sands Hotel in Burntisland has applied for planning permission after buying the unit to turn it into an eating area as it adapts to operating post COVID.

The application has been lodged with Fife Council.

Supporting documents show the hotel on Lochies Road bought the storage container shortly before the company selling them closed down.

It sees the extra covered space for diners as “a good addition”, and the plan also includes the installation of artificial grass to complete the area.

In October, the Sands signed up to the Work from Bars scheme - a new initiative to provide people who are fed up of working from home with a different working environment by connecting them with bars which offer spaces to work in during the day.

Councillors will consider the application in due course.
