While they may not be a household name outside of the industry, Fife Creamery is a big player in food wholesale, supplying the NHS, education establishments, restaurants, hotels, shops, sandwich bars and butchers across the country.
A rapid expansion over the past few years has seen huge investment in their workspaces, fleet, new product sourcing and workforce, with dedicated experts being brought in to bolster the strengths of the business.
Now the team is growing again, with room for a new buyer who knows the food industry well, and may even have some sales experience.
Sales director Steve Appolinari says the buyer, who will join an enthusiastic and friendly team, will have to source new products for potential clients, whilst working with existing supply channels to maximise trading opportunities.
The ideal candidate
He said: “Most of all we need someone with excellent communication skills and the personality to fit in well with our experienced team in Kirkcaldy, but also with all our sales team, suppliers and clients.
“The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience; even if someone doesn’t match 100 per cent, we would be happy to train and develop additional skills if everything else is there.”
About the role
Based full-time in the buying office in Kirkcaldy, the new recruit will join four colleagues in a buying team committed to delivering for current clients, scouring the UK and Europe for new products, and finding potential new business opportunities.
About the firm
Fife Creamery is a hugely successful firm, with around 140 employees. It is proud to deliver chilled and frozen foods across the Scottish mainland and islands, using its new, energy efficient fleet of trucks.
From chicken tikka to cranachan cake, fresh meat to sandwich fillings, the wholesale food heroes are filling hearty plates with the best of produce all year round.
As well as growing the workforce and the customer base, in recent years they have invested in a substantial freezer cold store, a new food innovation hub, a dedicated sustainability programme, and also moved into the fresh butcher meat sector.
Steve said: “We are a family run firm and are proud to hold those values dear as we have for 67 years. I have been with Fife Creamery for 38 years, and there are many more like me in the business who have stayed because they love working here.
“We are looking for the right person to join our family, and be a successful part of the team.”
