Glenrothes shopping centre shuts toilets due to social distancing advice

The toilets at the Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes have been closed to follow the Government’s social distancing guidelines aimed at helping to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Centre manager David Carson: “I apologise that we’ve had to take the decision to close the toilets, but we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

“We would of course like to provide toilet facilities, but our main duty is following the social distancing advice to try and keep people visiting the centre as safe as possible.

“The housekeeping contractor has furloughed a number of staff meaning we don’t have the manpower to police the toilets for a one in, one out system as they have other cleaning duties to perform elsewhere in the centre where people congregate.”
