Kettle Produce announces growth despite '˜turbulence'

In the financial year to the end of May 2017, the producer reported post-tax profits of £1.8 million and a 13 per cent increase in turnover.

It put this increase down to the introduction of new sales lines to new and existing markets, good growing conditions, and investment in processing facilities and equipment.

Kettle Produce Limited financial director Liz Waugh said: “As we mark Kettle’s 40th anniversary in business, it is pleasing to report another successful period of growth and development for the 2016/17 financial year.

“We faced various market and economic challenges and production volumes can be heavily dependent on the weather. 2016/17 conditions proved favourable, allowing for efficient operating process across the production and processing sides of the business. With this success we continue to invest in our staff and facilities.”

Kettle Produce has grown to become one of the largest employers in Fife, with an average staff role of 934.

Looking forward to the current financial period, Liz added: “Trading for the current financial year is ahead of budget after a strong Christmas period, putting Kettle in a strong financial position to address any further economic or market challenges. I am confident that Kettle Produce will continue to prove strong and successful.”
