Leven nightclub group to enter voluntary liquidation

The news of the business’s demise came via an advert in the local press, advising that under The Insolvency Act 1986, a creditors meeting of the group had been called in Edinburgh on September 7.

And, this now throws into doubt recent news that multi-platinum selling band Top- loader will still perform at Truth in October.

Former director of the limited company, Lee Murray, said this was merely an administrative procedure and nobody should read too much into it.

He said: “It has always been the intention to close Protea Inns Limited down once it had sold off a property it owned. When it found it was unable to do that, the alternative route of a company administration was one of the remaining options.

“Nothing will change, and the individual businesses, of which Truth was taken out of Protea Inns Limited’s ownership some time ago, will all continue to trade as normal, and Toploader will still be playing Leven in October.”

Charlene Carson, manager of Middlebrooks Business Recovery & Advice said: “I would advise that I can confirm nothing further than we have been approached by the Director of the Company to call meetings of the Company’s members and creditors with a view to placing the Company into Liquidation, these meetings are to be held on 7 September 2018.”

The sole director of Protea Inns Limited is Lynne Mary Murray with Companies House records showing she has 18 appointments. The 48-year-old currently has five active directorships.
