The owners of a Leven tattoo parlour are marking its first birthday in the town centre by organising a beach clean.

Award-winning tattoo artist Joe Quinn and partner Jodie McIntosh opened the Tattoo Parlour last year – and it did not take long for their schedule to fill up with bookings.

To celebrate their success, the couple are inviting locals to take part in a beach clean on October 2, noon-2pm, on Leven beach, with those who are interested in taking part asked to meet at the car park next to the caravan park.

Despite the challenges, Joe and Jodie said the first year has been “fantastic”.

They said: “It has come with many challenges but that’s to be expected with any business when they first open.

“It has been much busier than we expected with clients travelling from all over Europe to get tattooed by us. We couldn’t have asked for a better start.”

The couple said they were excited to reopen again after being forced to close for four months because of the Covid-19 crisis.

“We are both so thankful that we are OK,” they said.

“I know that a lot of other people have had it a lot tougher than us.”

The couple are working with Happy Beaches Fife on the event – and are urging as many people to take part as possible.

“We have been super lucky to have teamed up with Happy Beaches Fife to make this event happen,” they said.

“It’s something that we both feel very strongly about. Plastic pollution is at an all time high and something needs to be done, but we need to lead by example.

“We live in such a beautiful seaside town that has a huge litter problem, especially at the beach.

“I have been diving for years and have seen first hand the effects that plastic pollution has had on marine life. I believe in this cause so much that Joe and I will be willing to give a 10 per cent discount to anyone who comes along to the beach clean up on the day. Fingers crossed it’s a nice day.”
