New dessert shop opens in Fife town

A couple are hoping to savour the sweet taste of success with their new dessert shop in Cupar’s town centre.

Ross Friel and Teri Jamieson opened Candy and Crunch on Bonnygate earlier this month, giving Fifers with a sweet tooth a new establishment to try out.

Tasty waffles, pancakes, cakes and crepes are all on the menu, while those who want to enjoy something lighter can choose from a selection of ice cream flavours or pick up a milkshake or smoothie. And, for those who are wanting to watch their weight, the shop also offers healthier options.

Opening just weeks after the lockdown was lifted, the new store has been swamped with customers.

“It’s been really good,” said Teri. “It’s just been hectic and really busy.”

Like other businesses, the store has introduced social distancing measures, such as limiting the number of people who can be in the store at any one time.

Candy and Crunch is the first business the couple have run, and Ross and Teri are learning as they go.

“It was Ross’ idea,” said Teri. “He had always wanted to open his own shop.

“He saw a gap in the market in Cupar. There was nothing like this here. There are some dessert shops in Glenrothes and Leven, but there was nothing in Cupar.

“This is our first shop. It has been a bit challenging, and we are learning. But I knew that it would work.”

The couple have received support from their families, to help get them started.

The store is open from noon-10pm and can be found at 38 Bonnygate.
