New Fife coffee shop starts delivery service

A coffee lover and his partner have opened their dream shop on Leven’s High Street.

Scott Harwood and Jay Chalmers opened the Koffee House at the beginning of September, offering Fifers some of the best coffee available.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Scott said the shop has been “surprisingly busy” during the first two months.

It is the first time the two 23 year olds have run their own business.

“It’s a new venture,” said Scott.

“Originally we were going to open a retail store in Kennoway, but then Jay’s mum said ‘why don’t you do something that you love?’. One thing led to another and now we have a coffee shop. Our mindset has been that if we can survive through this, then we can survive through anything.”

Despite the success of the new shop, it does not mean the experience has been without its challenges. Scott described the biggest challenge as having to keep up with the “constantly changing” Covid-19 guidelines.

Despite these issues, the shop has continued to grow, and last week it set up a new delivery service, running on Monday-Wednesday, from 10am-3pm, in Levenmouth.

Scott and Jay have also been keen to support other local businesses. Coffee beans come from local suppliers, treats and cakes come from bakers in the area, and meats for sandwiches come from the butcher next door.
