New Fife take-away service offers fine dining at home

Fifers can now enjoy the taste of restaurant-quality fine food without having to leave their homes, thanks to a new East Neuk service.

Guinea fowl terrine and lobster tortellini are among the stunning meals on offer through FINE at home, based out of The Pavilion in Elie.

Customers just have to phone up, put their orders in, choose their preferred time and day for delivery, and wait for the food to be dropped off at their home.

The service was launched by two young chefs, who, having worked at The Pavilion as teenagers, have trained at some of the best restaurants and hotels across Scotland, before returning to the East Neuk.

“It’s finer dining,” said of the chefs.

“It’s a higher standard of takeaway food. People can’t go to restaurants so we will bring the food to your house.”

The three-course meals are available to people living from Leven to St Andrews.

Some of the main courses require re-heating, so clear instructions are provided to make sure customers get the best meals possible.

The booklet that comes with the meal also details what ingredients are in the meals and where those ingredients came from.

Around 90 per cent of the produce comes from within a five-mile radius of Elie – that includes produce from the Ardross Farm Shop, shellfish from Smith and Bros and lobsters from St Monans.

“We want to support local businesses,” the chef added.

“Everyone has been hit hard by the crisis. We want to keep them afloat and tell people where their food is from. There is a lot of great food here and we want to celebrate that.”

As well as supporting local food producers, the chefs are also trying to make the service eco-friendly from start to finish, such as using biodegradable sugarcane packaging.
