New website supporting St Andrews businesses

St Andrews is still open for business thanks to a new app that allows people to purchase items from their favourite local shops.

The new #LoveStAndrews market place app launched on Saturday and gives customers the chance to buy items and either have them delivered or pick them up in store. Users can buy from 11 local shops at the moment, with another 18 stores ready to join in the near future.

The app, delivered by BID St Andrews and powered by the Hungrrr platform, has been launched in an attempt to help businesses in the town, whether they have a delivery or click and collect service or not.

It is hoped that the app will help to drive revenue streams, save jobs and ensure that local businesses survive and thrive as they emerge from the crisis.

“Town centres will play a vital role in the ‘bounce back’ and we hope the marketplace app will be another way we can help the businesses by providing them with a flexible revenue platform as they adapt the way they operate going forward,” said BID St Andrews manager Jane Kennedy.

“We hope local residents and visitors to our town will enjoy the app and also let us know which businesses they would like to see come on-board.”

Among the businesses that have already signed up are the St Andrews Brewing Co, Cromars and the Crystal Shop.

The app, which has been funded through the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 BID resilence fund, is also available for businesses which are not part of BID to join.

Louise A Fraser, chair of BID St Andrews and owner of Fraser Gallery St Andrews, said: “I am delighted that we are able to support our local businesses in accessing a new platform that will help them promote their business to both new and existing audiences. As we move forward the parameters within which businesses can operate will be changing and our marketplace app will allow them to offer their products and services with delivery and collect options, in addition to their physical sales.”
