Optical Home Visits service covering Fife and Forth Valley expands into audiology

A dedicated home visits team have expanded their services to now bring audiology care, as well as optics, to communities in Fife and Forth Valley.
Specsavers Fife and Forth Valley Home Visits currently offer at-home eye tests and glasses dispensing services, and will now begin offering hearing checks, hearing aid dispensing, wax removal and all related aftercare to the communities they serve.
The services primarily cover Fife and Forth Valley, with some services extended to Lothian, Perth, Cumbernauld and Baillieston.
Specsavers Home Visits is accessible to anyone who is unable to visit their local optician or audiologist unaccompanied due to either physical or mental illness or disability. Instead, a mobile team will visit private homes, care homes, or sheltered accommodation to provide essential care.

Gemma Couper, audiologist and Specsavers partner for Fife and Forth Valley Home Visits, says: ‘I love my job and take such pride in the care I deliver to the communities we support.
‘The care received at home is so personal and individual, you feel like you’re making a real difference to people's lives. It gives us the opportunity to offer longer appointment times and deliver bespoke care which you would receive if you went to a store, but within the comfort of their own home.’
The Audiology Home Visits team consists of Gemma Couper and Pauline Jones, customer service partner and trainee wax removal specialist. Meanwhile the optical service is covered by three optometrists, one dispensing optician and five optical assistants.
The whole team is supported by two dedicated call handlers who can help organise appointments.
For Gemma, delivering care to those affected by disability is a highlight of her role. She adds: ‘I have multiple sclerosis so helping others with disabilities is a fundamental priority for me.
‘Being able to provide care to those who need it in the comfort of their home is a real privilege.’
