A Fife initiative that links business and education has made a new appointment to its board.

Pauline McGeevor has joined the Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) project.

She runs Hand Picked, a successful youth employability and jobs programme set up byr CR Smith chairman, Gerard Eadie CBE.

Pauline has worked in the employability sector for over 15 years and her career spans recruitment, training, sales and marketing,

She has also built an extensive network of local business people, who could inspire and inform young Fifers.

Bob Garmory, Chairman of DYW Fife, said: “Pauline has worked in both the third sector and the private sector delivering highly effective employability programmes and we are delighted to have her as part of our board.

“When opportunities for school leavers are diminishing to have someone as committed as Pauline to find solutions is a real advantage.”

Last week, DYW launched its #NoWrongPath campaign and its message that there are always options, whatever the starting point, couldn’t be more important.

Pauline said: “Joining the DYW board at this time allows me to bring some of my knowledge and experience to help at what is going to be a very tough path ahead for many school leavers.

"However, I firmly believe that collectively – schools and businesses – we can inspire young people and give them the tools and motivation to take the next steps. I look forward to working with all the members of the board in the months ahead.”
