Pitching new ideas for success at Leven caravan park

Recent new prestige could also be set to make Glenview Caravan Park even more of an asset to the town.

The site has been rewarded with a new classification which boosts its profile as a small holiday park.

It received a three-star grading by Visit Scotland, in recognition of its standards.

Erica and Craig Taylor, the husband and wife team who manage the family-owned facility, staged a celebratory event recently, which included a Macmillan coffee morning.

They also engaged the caravan owners themselves in giving the site more vitality by staging a ‘Pride of Pitch’ competition.

Prizes were presented by local Fife councillor and contest judge Ally Hunter to the owners who looked after their caravans to the highest standard and also paid attention to the cleanliness and tidiness of their surroundings.

The winners Pat and Jim Harrison, of Blairgowrie, received a trophy, a hamper and a bottle of their choice.

Selected bottles went to the runners-up, Lesley Sawers and Danny Malcolm, of Livingston, and third-placed William and Mary Sloan of Blantyre.

Glenview has also been taking part in the David Bellamy conservation awards scheme, for holiday parks working to protect and enhance the environment.

Craig and Erica have been involved in various eco schemes like recycling, planting native species and promoting wildlife.

The couple hope all this success will boost the familiarity and reputation of the site, which has capacity for around 60 caravans and is situated off Holly Road, next to Letham Glen.

“The site is in Leven but only people in the Boyack homes nearby really know it is there,” said Erica.

The Macmillan coffee morning featured a raffle and bottle stall, to raise money for the cancer charity, as well as entertainment from the Fiona Gallacher Dancers.

“It’s all about involving the community as well,” added Erica.
