Plans for new drive-thru bakery in Fife town set to be decided

Councillors will decide tomorrow (Wednesday) whether to give planning permission to proposals to build a new bakery in Leven.

The new Wm Stephen branch would be built on Turpie Road, should it be given the green light.

It would include a drive-thru, giving customers the chance to pick up their favourite products without having to get out of the car. People will also be able to buy in-store, although there would be no seating.

It is hoped the new bakery would create around 20 jobs.

The application has been put to councillors because six letters of objection were submitted.

It is feared the bakery could take away business from the existing shops, with suggestions that it should be built closer to the town centre.

However, Fife Council planning officials have recommended that the development should be approved.
