Renewables experts launch new business at Methil energy park

International Testing Services Ltd has just been launched to support local engineering projects and facilitate inspection services globally.

Michael Oates, operations director, and George Shields, quality director, have more than 50 years of experience between them across a variety of sectors including petrochemical, maritime, agricultural and civil engineering projects in the UK and internationally.

Based in Energy Park Fife, the inspection services company can improve the product quality, maintain compliance with recognised standards and ensure integrity of a project.

A wide range of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection methods are utilised including Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection and Visual Inspection.

George said: “We only started trading this summer despite being in the renewables industry for a number of years, predominantly in wind turbine foundations but also jackets and rigs in oil and gas.

“The pandemic has certainly made that challenging however we want to showcase our services as it is important to have a local supporting supply chain to the engineering capabilities of the region.

“We are excited for the future and aim to build up our team and expand the business as we secure new contracts.”

George approached Business Gateway Fife and received one-to-one support from business adviser, Shona Morrison.
