Work starts on new Fife retail park

Work has started on transforming a derelict site in a Fife town centre into a new retail park.

The retail park, on South Road in Cupar, will be an £8 million project, which will include eight retail and leisure units.

The site has lain derelict for years, but that looks set to change soon, after construction workers were spotted on site on Monday morning.

Andy Richardson, group development director at London & Scottish Developments, said: “We are delighted to be starting work with Muir Construction on transforming this disused site into a new retail and leisure facility for Cupar. As well as complementing the town’s existing retail offering, the development will create 120 to 140 long-term retail jobs.”

B&M will be the main anchor store for the development. It has also been confirmed that pre-lets have been agreed with Indigo Sun and the fast food giant Burger King, which will be Cupar’s first drive-thru restaurant.

Costa Coffee will also be opening a branch in the town.
