5 Thursdays, 6 Lodges and 88 Masons
Thursday 29 January was an important date in the meeting calendar for the Brethren of Lodge Balgonie in Markinch. As the lodge usually meets the first and third Thursdays of the month, having an extra evening to hold a meeting allowed for an invite to be extended to Brethren of the other lodges from across the Province of Fife and Kinross who meet the same evenings.
In a show of unity and fellowship within the Province, the Right Worshipful Masters and Brethren from Lodge St Andrews at Crail 83 (Crail), Lodge St Michael 246 (Tayport), Lodge Union 250 (Dunfermline), Lodge Randolph 776 (Methil) and Lodge Wemyss 777 (Dysart) joined the Brethren in Markinch to work together to present an exemplification of the ritual work of the Fellowcraft Degree.
In addition to the Brethren representing the 6 lodges, visitors from other sister lodges within the province, along with the Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, came along to offer support and swell the numbers of attendees, with 88 in total being seated within the Masonic temple.
Following the formal part of the meeting, the Brethren joined together in a social evening providing an opportunity for a long overdue catch-up. The meeting of 6 lodges will now be repeated in April with Lodge Randolph 776 agreeing to host the meeting at the Masonic Hall in Methil.
Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Balgonie commented that “it was such a rewarding experience to preside over a meeting of 6 lodges. Seeing our wee hall in Markinch so full of friends from across Fife was heartening and with each Lodge having their own regalia colours, the hall was as colourful as it was filled with enjoyment and happiness. Without a doubt the whole evening was a clear demonstration of the strength and shared purpose of Freemasonry in the province of Fife and Kinross. Thanks are due to all those who supported the meeting by delivering parts of the degree ritual, as well as coming along to show their support.”
