Wendy Chamberlain, MP for North East Fife, will be running the 2026 London Marathon to raise money for two charities: PANS PANDAS UK and Fife Carers Centre.

The marathon will take place on April 26 and Chamberlain is raising money for local charity Fife Carers Centre, who support adult carers in their caring role, as well as support them to protect their own physical, emotional, mental, and financial health. Chamberlain is on the Board of Fife Carers Centre following her successful Private Member’s Bill which resulted in the introduction of the Carer’s Leave Act which grants unpaid carers five days of carer’s leave.

She is also supporting PANS PANDAS UK, a charity established by a dedicated group of parents whose children are affected by the conditions PANS (Paediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections). Chamberlain is the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentarians Group for PANS PANDAS after the condition first came to her attention as a result of local families contacting her for support.

Vicky Burford, CEO at PANS PANDAS UK said: “We are absolutely delighted that Wendy Chamberlain MP is running the London Marathon in support of PANS PANDAS UK.

"Wendy’s work as Chair of the PANS PANDAS APPG and her passion for raising awareness of PANS and PANDAS has already made such a meaningful difference, and we are truly grateful for everything she continues to do.

"Thank you for championing our community with such energy and warmth Wendy, we are cheering you on every step of the way, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you at the finish line!”

A spokesperson for Fife Carers Centre said: "We’re delighted that Wendy has chosen to support Fife Carers Centre. The funds raised will help us continue supporting carers across Fife who provide vital care for family members.

“With a 47 per cent increase in carers accessing our support in 2025, this fundraising is more important than ever to ensure we can continue providing vital services and support to those who care for others."

Wendy Chamberlain MP said: “This will be my first ever marathon and I’m so pleased to be supporting two incredible charities.

“I have seen first hand the incredible support which both Fife Carers Centre and PANS PANDAS provide to families who are facing really difficult circumstances.

“Carers across North East Fife do an extraordinary job supporting loved ones, often while juggling work and their own wellbeing. Fife Carers Centre provides vital help to ensure they get the support they deserve.

“PANS PANDAS UK also does fantastic work supporting families navigating complex and often misunderstood conditions, as well as raising awareness and campaigning for better understanding.

“Training for a marathon is certainly challenging, but knowing that it will help raise funds and awareness for these organisations will keep me motivated every step of the way.”
