As more of us are feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, it might not seem like the right time to choose study over work. However, Fife College are making sure their courses are designed with job creation in mind. Over 93% of full-time students who had successfully completed their course with Fife College in 2020/21 reported that they had progressed on from their course to a job, training and/or further study within three to six months after gaining their qualification.

This impressive positive destination figure, which is up from 90.22% in 2019/20, follows a recent survey of Fife College students which found 90% were satisfied with their college experience. Boost Your Skills

Starting in January or February 2023, there is a fantastic range of Skills Boost short courses available at Fife College, which have been specifically designed to enhance your employability options and provide you with the skills and experience to make your C.V. stand out from the crowd when you are applying for jobs.

These short-term, flexible courses, which are delivered online, are the ideal way to refine your core skills and gain experience of specific industry sectors, such as Digital and Cyber Security, Health and Social Care, Childcare, Travel and Tourism, as well as Sales and Marketing. New year, new start

In addition to these online Skills Boost courses, Fife College is also now taking applications for full-time and part-time courses starting in January/February which are suitable for a wide range of people. So, if employment concerns have got you thinking about re-training or making a career change; you may be leaving school at Christmas and want to learn new skills; or perhaps you are interested in learning more about a subject before coming to college in August to study towards a qualification – if so, then these New Year courses are for you.

You’ll find a wide range of subject areas on offer, all of which will provide you with the foundations that you’ll need to get ahead in a career in exciting areas such as Esports and Games Development, Tourism and Events, Professional Cookery, Bakery, Hair and Beauty, Engineering, Business – to name just a few. Support for students

Money worries shouldn’t hold you back from thinking about studying at the moment. Fife College is committed to ensuring that any prospective and current students who need assistance receive the support that they require, not only with their finances, but also with their health and wellbeing.

Some of the support initiatives in place include the immensely popular Breakfast Club, where all students can claim a free breakfast every day, with over 5000 free breakfasts being served since the start of the 2022/23 academic year.

With free bus travel to all Fife College campuses for those under 22, free gym sessions at the College’s Kirkcaldy campus, and access to free laptops and other devices, there are a number of ways that studying could be more affordable than you think.
