Fire at a Kirkcaldy high school

Staff and pupils were evacuated from St Andrews High School this afternoon (Wednesday) when a fire broke out in one of the toilets.

Three appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 3.31pm.

Eleven firefighters took part in putting out the blaze and helping with the evacuation of 900 staff and pupils from the building. All were accounted for.

No-one was injured and the fire service gave the all-clear at 3.53pm.

Parents were informed that school buses taking pupils home were delayed by 15 minutes and that any belongings left behind during the evacuation will be safe until today (Thursday).

This is the second fire at a Fife high school this week. Fire crews were called to fire at the former Buckhaven High on Sunday night.
