Current site owner Shepherd Offshore has submitted a proposal for the land at the Halbeath Interchange, showing how it could host Fife College's new Dunfermline campus and, potentially, St Columba’s RC High and Woodmill High Schools.

Fife College already owns a portion of land south of the Fife Leisure Park for the project, and Fife Council is planning to purchase additional adjacent land to ensure the project can go ahead.

They say their aim is to create an "innovating learning campus" guiding students through high school to further and higher education, with state of the art facilities to meet their needs.

The college has appointed its management team for the £180m project and Fife Council will consult in the coming months on relocating the two schools. It is anticipated that the campus will be completed for the start of the 2024/25 academic year.

Dr Hugh Hall, principal, said the planning application was "a significant step" in the project's timeline.

He added: “It will be a ground-breaking development for the Kingdom, and we’re incredibly excited at the prospect of what we can achieve on this site.
