A section of car park H – opposite accident and emergency - will shut on Friday, February 26 ahead of work starting on the new £33 million facility, which was granted formal planning permission last month.

In a statement NHS Fife said: “Work has been ongoing in recent weeks to add additional parking spaces elsewhere on the hospital grounds to replace any spaces lost.

"Over and above these, additional car parking will soon also be available with the expansion of car park L, which will increase parking capacity at the Victoria by around 140 extra spaces.”

Construction work should take around 18 months.

The three-storey facility will make Fife the first NHS region in Scotland to carry out hip and knee replacements as day cases not requiring overnight stays.
