It was a “difficult but necessary” decision which will impact on a huge range of services and venues across the Kingdom.

The Trust is closing all libraries and mobile libraries, and theatres – including Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy; Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline; Rothes Halls, Glenrothes; and Lochgelly Centre.

Also affected are museums and galleries, the archive and collections centre, any retail outlets it runs, and cafes.

All services are suspended until further notice.

A statement from the trust said: “We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we are able to open our doors once again.”
