Children at second Fife nursery to self-isolate as a precaution after Covid-19 case confirmed

All children at Kirkcaldy’s Torbain Nursery are asked to stay at home as a precaution after an individual with links to the educational establishment has tested positive for coronavirus.

NHS Fife say youngsters should not attend nursery on Friday and should self-isolate until Tuesday, September 29 before returning on Wednesday, September 30.

They say there is no evidence of any transmission within the nursery at this stage and the risk to children and staff is low.

All other pupils in the school are asked to attend as normal.

The positive case at Torbain follows confirmation in recent days of Covid-19 cases being identified in other educational settings in the Kingdom.

Two P7 classes at St John’s Primary in Rosyth, and all children at Lochgelly West Nursery have also been advised to self-isolate after individuals linked to those facilities also tested positive.

Health bosses say anyone who develops any of the symptoms of the virus, such as a fever; or a loss or change in taste or smell; or a new and continuous cough, should arrange testing using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal here or by calling 0800 028 2816.

According to the Scottish Government’s daily figures on Thursday, the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Fife since the outbreak began is now 1063.
