Coronavirus cases in Fife on the increase again

The number of coronavirus cases in Fife has begun to increase again today, after days of little or no movement.

An update on cases in Fife shows total positive cases is now 823, seven more than yesterday’s 816 figure.

That was just three more than Tuesday’s number, which was unchanged from Monday for the first time.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 76 known cases, up from 75 yesterday.

There are less than five people currently in intensive care.

A total of 80,275 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these, 14,117 were positive.

162 people have now died from coronavirus in Fife, it has been confirmed.

The latest figures released by the Scottish Government show that Fife is still seeing roughly 20 deaths per week.

The previous week’s figures showed that 143 people had died of the virus, up from 118 the week before.

Of the 162 deaths in Fife, 59 occurred in care homes, with 15 at home, and 88 in hospitals.

Across Scotland, 3,213 people have died with covid19 mentioned on the death certificate since the first appearances began in mid-March. It is a further 418 deaths than last week’s recorded figures.

North of the border, 1,483 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 1,537 hospital deaths and 237 at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between May 4 and May 10.
