Coronavirus cases rise in Fife, as more people in hospital

Fife has seen another surge in coronavirus cases overnight, with another 26 cases being identified.

An update on the number of cases in Fife was issued today, with 619, up from 593 yesterday, which had increased from 561 the previous day.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 141 known cases (six more since yesterday), with six in intensive care.

A total of 85 people are now known to have died of the virus in Fife, up from 46 last week.

Across Scotland, 1616 people have died since the first death certificate mentioned covid19 just over a month ago.

A total of 44,799 people in Scotland have been tested, with 9,409 positive.

North of the border, 537 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 910 hospital deaths and 168 at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between April 13 and 19.
