Coronavirus deaths in Fife up 38 per cent

The number of coronavirus deaths in Fife has risen by more than 38 per cent this week, new figures show.

A total of 118 people are now known to have died of the virus in Fife, up from 85 last week.

Across Scotland, 2,272 people have died with covid19 mentioned on the death certificate since the first appearances began in mid-March.

An update on the number of cases in Fife today shows the total number of positive cases at 712, up from 692 yesterday.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 148, known cases, with six in intensive care.

A total of 53,082 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these: 11,034 were positive.

North of the border, 886 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 1,188 hospital deaths and 197at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between April 20 and 26.
