The decision by the Byre Theatre in St Andrews was taken in a bid to minimise the spread of the virus, and keep people safe.

The cancellations started this weekend, and all shows and public events scheduled between now and May 31 have been postponed.

The list includes film screenings, events which formed part of the On The Rocks Festival, Fast Show star Arabella Weir’s solo show, and the Scottish Community Drama Association divisional finals.

Private events booked at the theatre are not affected, the building isn’t closing – and its cafe will be open for business as usual.

The Byre is part of the University of St Andrews, and it recognises that “in the current circumstances, it is common sense for us to plan carefully for what may lie ahead for our community-facing services.”

Tickets for cancelled shows will be refunded if paid by card.
