Coronavirus in Fife: 38 staff and patients test positive after hospital ward closure

Balcurvie Ward at Cameron Hospital in Windygates was closed last week to new admissions following a cluster of confirmed cases of covid19.

NHS Fife now says total of 38 staff and patients have now tested positive.

Enhanced cleaning and decontamination remains in place in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.

Visiting is currently suspended at all hospitals in Fife, however the health board says a small number of exceptions are in place, such in cases as where patients are receiving end-of-life care.

It comes as Fife saw the total amount of cases reach 2936 yesterday, adding another 50 positive tests on the previous day.

The number of people in hospital with the virus has now reached 58, with 11 of those being in an intensive care unit.
