Coronavirus in Scotland: No deaths registered in the last 24 hours

The First Minister updated the nation on the latest coronavirus statistics during a press conference from St Andrew’s House in Edinburgh.

The last 24 hours saw 734 positive cases recorded.

There are now 1,012 patients in hospital and 46 patients in intensive care after testing positive.

Ms Sturgeon also announced that there were no deaths registered in the last 24 hours.

She urged people to avoid risks where ever possible and to continue to follow regulations as Christmas approached.

She said: “I’m sorry I’m starting to sound like the Christmas killjoy here.”

Office and work parties were discouraged, especially those that involve alcohol, and although the Scottish Government are not planning on changing the loosening of festive restrictions, the First Minister warned that meeting up with other households during that time is not “risk free.”

She concluded that is was “more vital than ever” to continue to follow all the restrictions and guidelines.
