Coronavirus: Kirkcaldy school closes as staff isolate and wait on test results

A Kirkcaldy primary school connected with a rising number of coronavirus cases has shut today due to a shortage of staff.

Pathhead Primary School has had nine cases of Covid-19 linked with it in the past two weeks.

Several staff members are absent, some of them are self-isolating and some being tested for the virus and waiting on results.

Maria Lloyd, head of Fife Council’s education and children's services, said: "Unfortunately, Pathhead Primary has had to close today as we have a number of teachers who are isolating or waiting on the results of Covid-19 tests.

"Each school has its own contingency plans in place, including plans for remote learning, which are continually reviewed.”

She added: “Parents will be updated by the school on contingency plans and if circumstances change."
