Coronavirus: Pommy's World Buffet closes in Kirkcaldy

Kirkcaldy’s recently-opened restaurant Pommy’s World Buffet has closed due to the Coronavirus “until further notice”.

The Tolbooth Street eatery revealed the news in a social media post, and it comes as nearby cafe The Baker’s Field made a similar announcement.

The statement issued by Pommy’s says that the restaurant hopes to re-open as soon as the situation is under control.

It said: “Due to the Global spread of COVID-19 and the increasing numbers currently across the UK and Scotland is affecting each and every one of us, especially the vulnerable around us including our loved ones.

“Our pledge to comply with the advice of the governing authorities and W.H.O to keep our customers and staff safe.

“With the situation escalating rapidly, to do our part for the community and as a buffet restaurant, to try and reduce the spread of the virus. Pommy’s takes staff and customer health and safety as our number one priority and we would not like to put anyone at risk.

“As a precaution, we will be closing Pommy’s World Buffet from Monday 16 March until further notice.

“This will also result in all near future bookings to be cancelled.

“We would like to reassure our customers that we have not had any cases amongst our staff or anyone relating to us.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely around us and follow all Government and Health and Safety guidelines and we will be opening as soon as we understand the situation to be controlled along with any government advice.”
