The Craigencalt Trust was due to hold its seventh annual programme of free guided walks from Kinghorn to Aberdour from March 23 to April 8.

But organisers have decided to postpone the festival until the autumn given the current situation.

Marilyn Edwards, one of the trustees, said an email was sent out to Trust supporters to let them know of the development.

In a statement she wrote: “Just as the spring weather begins to look promising, we will need to postpone the Trust Walking Festival.

“We have looked at ways that we could do some walks taking different measures to comply with Government guidelines, but this has grown impossible. Besides, a special part of the event is the friendly ambience amongst participants and that would be difficult to put in place when folk are asked to keep their distance.

“Thank you for your support of this event and we will see how things progress. We intend to hold the event in the early autumn instead. If so, I will get back in touch at a later time.”

She added: “Hopefully everyone stays well, and keeps walking.”
