Steps have been taken by the trust to increase cleanliness measures, and staff and customers are advised to follow Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland guidance.

Jeph Hamilton, interim chief executive for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “In keeping with the Government’s announcement yesterday regarding protocols to be followed with related to the spread and containment of the coronavirus (COVID-19), ‘to avoid pubs, clubs and other social venues’, we are updating customers with regards visits to Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s facilities.

Gyms and leisure centres fall into the category of a ‘social venue’.

“The Government has not given a directive to close leisure centres or indeed pubs, clubs or schools, therefore at this point, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust venues will continue to operate in the context of the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in.

“We will continue with the increased measures on cleanliness and personal hygiene that have been put in place for your and our employee’s health and wellbeing and would ask you to do your utmost to follow Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland guidance.

“However, if you feel unwell or have any of the symptoms please refer to NHS Fife information and do not attend our venues.

“There is a huge amount of uncertainty surrounding coronavirus; we are all dealing with an ever-changing situation and going forward decisions will continue to be made based on the advice and directives received from the Government and Public Health Scotland.

“Please be assured that the health and well-being of customers and employees remain the priority.”
