Covid-19 case linked to Fife high school confirmed

Pupils at Lochgelly High have been asked to self isolate after an individual linked to the school tested positive for coronavirus.

NHS Fife said the positive case continues to have mild symptoms and is isolating at home with other household members.

In a statement, the health board said there continues to be no evidence of any onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff remains low.

Health chiefs say pupils at Lochgelly High School identified as being in close contact with the case have been asked to stay home on Monday and self isolate.

Pupils in three classes at Sinclairtown Primary School in Kirkcaldy have also been asked to self isolate from Monday after someone connected to the school tested positive for the virus.

The news comes as Fife recorded 23 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Sunday.

The Scottish Government’s daily data shows the number of positive cases increased by more than 20 for the second day in a row.
