Their project aims to support families with children at the primary school who may be finding life particularly difficult.

On Saturday, they were joined by Newcraigs Church, Sky, and Kirkcaldy and District Freemasons to put together and deliver the parcels destined for families.

Funding for the project came from the charity, Cash for Kids, to help 40 families, supporting over 90 children.

They received food, cleaning products, arts and craft packs and toys as businesses, charities and organisations came together in a awesome show of community spirit.

Abigail King, principal teacher at Kirkcaldy North said: “The money came from Cash for Kids, which offered a huge amount of support to our families at Christmas time too.

“We identified families who we believed were finding lockdown particularly tricky without the usual support and stability that the school provides.

“I contacted Mandy Henderson at Linton Lane Centre to see if she could offer any assistance, and she pulled in her contacts to ensure that this project went ahead.

“Within these packages there was food, toiletries, games and teddies, homemade soup all of which was sorted and packed last weekend thanks to the members of Newcraigs Church, Kirkcaldy.”

The school has a foodbank during term time which many families can access, food, toiletries, shoes and wellies, school uniform and coats, and it is looking to further develop this once lockdown is lifted.

Added Abigail: “We are also currently looking for any donations of old laptops and or tablets which can be reconditioned to give out to our families who are currently finding online learning very difficult.”

Mandy Henderson, added: “It was an amazing piece of partnership working with the school and all of the other organisations to put this together to help families.”
