New coronavirus cases in Fife slow down

An update on the number of cases in Fife today shows the total number of positive cases at 750, up from 737 yesterday.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 139, known cases, down from 142 yesterday, with six currently in intensive care.

A total of 56,702 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these, 11,654 were positive.

In Fife 118 people are now known to have died of the virus, up from 85 last week.

Across Scotland, 2,272 people have died with covid19 mentioned on the death certificate since the first appearances began in mid-March.

North of the border, 886 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 1,188 hospital deaths and 197 at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between April 20 and 26.
