No Covid-19 related deaths in Fife in last week

Data released by the National Records of Scotland on Wednesday show there was no change in the number of deaths related to coronavirus in the Kingdom between August 3 and 9 compared to the previous week.

The total number of deaths related to Covid-19 in the region since the outbreak began is 203.

The news comes as Scotland recorded 47 new positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours – including two in Fife.

The number of Fifers testing positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began is now 959, according to the Scottish Government’s daily figures on Thursday.

In the last seven days there has been an increase of seven positive cases locally.

Across Scotland, up until August 9, there had been 4213 deaths registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, according to the statistics published by the NRS.

Five deaths were registered mentioning Covid-19 on the certificate between August 3 and 9 – the lowest weekly total for deaths involving coronavirus since the first death was recorded in early March.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 411,703 people in Scotland have been tested.

Of these, 392,530 were confirmed negative and 19,173 were positive.
