No new coronavirus cases in Fife for first time

No new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Fife for the first time since the daily figures were introduced.

An update on the number of cases in Fife shows the total number of positive cases still at 813, meaning no further cases have been detected overnight.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 81 known cases, up from 80 yesterday.

There are less than five people currently in intensive care.

A total of 75,570 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these, 13,763 were positive.

In Fife 143 people are now known to have died of the virus, up from 118 the previous week.

Across Scotland, 2,795 people have died with covid19 mentioned on the death certificate since the first appearances began in mid-March.

North of the border, 1195 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 1383 hospital deaths and 216 at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between April 27 and May 3.
