Rise in coronavirus cases in Fife slows down

An update on the number of cases in Fife today shows the total number of positive cases at 637, up from 619 yesterday, which had increased from 593 the previous day.

In Fife hospitals, there are currently 136 known cases (five less than yesterday), with six in intensive care.

A total of 85 people are now known to have died of the virus in Fife, up from 46 last week.

Across Scotland, 1616 people have died since the first death certificate mentioned covid19 just over a month ago.

A total of 46,089 people in Scotland have been tested, with 9,697 positive.

North of the border, 537 deaths due to coronavirus have now been reported in care homes, with 910 hospital deaths and 168 at home.

The latest death statistics cover the period between April 13 and 19.
