Ten residents die at Fife care home after coronavirus outbreak

Ten residents have died at a Fife care home as a total of 68 confirmed cases of coronavirus were identified.

A total of 25 residents and 43 staff at Mossview Care Home in Lochgelly have tested positive for the virus.

NHS Fife said the first case associated with the cluster was discovered on December 20. It is understood residents received their first round of Covid-19 vaccinations on January 6.

In a statement on the NHS Fife website it said: “Sadly, 10 people died after contracting COVID-19 and our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.

“NHS Fife’s Health Protection Team and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership worked closely with Fife Council’s Environmental Health Service to support the management of the care home and offer advice to prevent spread of the virus.

"The care home was closed to new admissions and has since reopened since it is now 14 days since the last positive test.”
