Three Fife schools linked to positive COVID tests

Public health teams are tracing contacts after positive COVID tests were linked to three schools across Fife.

Affected are Kirkcaldy North Primary and Balwearie High School, Kirkcaldy, plus Parkhill Primary in Leven.

The numbers of positive tests confirmed are very small, but NHS Fife has confirmed that its public team test and protect team is carrying out contact tracing at all three.

At Kirkcaldy North, one person linked to the school has tested positive, while three cases are linked to Balwearie.

At Parkhill, one individual linked to the school has tested positive.

In each case, close contacts have been identified and instructed to isolate as a precaution.

The figures are positive cases from recent days along with a cumulative number since the start of the new term.

A spokesman for NHS Fife said: “Where there is more than one confirmed case, this does not necessarily suggest transmission within the school and may relate to a sibling or household group, or separate incidences of community-acquired infection.
