Two classes at West Fife primary school to isolate for a week

NHS Fife confirmed on Tuesday that an individual linked to St John’s Primary School had tested positive for Covid-19.

Children in P7a and P7b were asked not to attend school on Wednesday while the Test and Protect team carried out contact tracing, however those in the two classes have now been advised to self-isolate.

Health bosses say the pupils in these classes should self isolate until Thursday, September 24 and return to school on Friday, September 25.

All other children at the school should continue to attend if they remain well.

NHS Fife reassured parents and carers that there continues to be no evidence of onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff remains low.

Anyone who develops any of the established symptoms of the virus, such as a fever; or a loss or change in taste or smell; or a new and continuous cough, should arrange testing using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal via www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 0800 028 2816.

NHS Fife saw an increase in cases by three on Wednesday taking the total number of positive cases confirmed in the Kingdom since the outbreak began to 1052.

The health board also confirmed a staff member at Lochgelly West Nursery has tested positive for coronavirus.
