A new defibrillator has been installed in Kinglassie

It was paid for by a grant from the Westfield Kinglassie Community Fund which supports local projects for the benefit of those living the area.

It was provided by Ventient Energy, which owns and operates Westfield Wind Farm, and is administered by Foundation Scotland.could be provided to anyone having a heart attack in the area.

A group spokesman said: “Speed of response is critical in maximising the chances of a full recovery from cardiac arrest and locally located defibrillators can help improve chances of survival.

“Our defibrillator is located in the centre of the village, it has open access so can be used by anyone.”

The group has had the guidance of East Neuk First Responders and the Scottish Fire and

Rescue Service while developing this project.

The defibrillator is linked to the responders via the internet so they will know immediately if it gets used.

The local fire and rescue branch ha offered to provide training, while McColl’s has provided space for the unit outside its shop.
