Fife hotel staff help deliver thousands of masks to front-line workers

Fairmont St Andrews Hotel has partnered with the charity Friends of Asia to provide face-masks to Fife NHS key workers, care homes and groups on the front line.

Friends for Asia, an organisation that specialises in placing foreign volunteers and intern groups in projects in Bali, Thailand and Vietnam, has distributed free masks to various parts of the world.

As a trustee of the charity, Fairmont St Andrews co-owner Caleb Chan has arranged for 2000 3M N95 approved masks to be delivered by Fairmont St Andrews’ staff to NHS frontline workers and those in need in Fife, with a commitment of a further 10,000 masks to be distributed in the coming days.

To date, teams from the hotel have assisted North East Fife Council Community Assistance Hubs, NHS frontline and emergency services in the area along with the Royal National LifeBoat Institution who are providing medical delivery services to the elderly.

John Keating, general manager, said: “Our hotel might be closed but we can still extend hospitality and care to those in need during this crisis and to support key workers.”
