Kindness and compassion earn Fife healthcare hero a COVID award

A Fife health care hero has been honoured for her work during the pandemic.

Karen Johnson, clinical director and chief nurse at HC-One was included in the inaugural Healthcare Hero Awards from Knight Frank.

She was one of ten to be honoured for their commitment and dedication throughout the pandemic.

The winners were chosen for their leadership, kindness and compassion, and commitment to thinking creatively to make sure residents, colleagues and visitors felt safe and protected.

Karen was nominated by Sir David Behan CBE, non-executive chairman at HC-One.

He said: “She has demonstrated unfaltering attentiveness, kindness, patience and empathy during these difficult and emotional times while working with the weight of responsibility of the safety of tens of thousands of people. “

Karen said she was extremely honoured by the award, and added: “I am privileged to work with some exceptional people who have all gone over and above to support residents, colleagues and relatives during these unprecedented times. They are all truly heroes.”
